Trekking

Throughout my short and limited trekking experience. I can say I enjoyed it the most out of all my sports. The proper freedom, the wild rugged nature is alluring. I wish to follow in my father's footsteps. After doing a few day hikes in the Pyrenees and the Tour du Mont Blanc in the Alps. I can say that I am no longer a fresh beginner. Am I where I would I like to be no. Ireland isn't renowned for high or technical peaks. However I have a plan. I wish to all my training in Connemara national park. The closest "mountains" to me. The catch doing it in winter. Building up my experience so that I can do the High Haute Pyrenees next year. Ultimately, without speaking to airy fairy into the future. I need ice and proper snow experience and then I can return once again to either of Western Europe's highest and hopefully trek and scale. Without being too lofty I would like to go the Pakistani Himalayas. What exactly I do there will be decided by the course of the next few years. I am excited to embark on this chapter and experience the world in a new light.

Tour du Mont Blanc

Pure Bliss. Approximately 170km of going around the Mont Blanc Massiff. This has undoubtedly taught me a lot about myself but also sparked a new passion for trekking/mountaineering. This was a very easy trek physically speaking. This was a great introduction into more proper trekking as opposed to day hikes. My favourite part undoubtedly is the more rugged and wild Italian side where there isn't a major valley road like in the French Side that being said. I really enjoyed the Swiss side as well. I tried to take as many variants as possible but my favourite off piste excursion was when I went to the Glacier D'orny at around 2830 give or take. My highest point of my TMB. I managed to snag the KOM on the Col Ferret heading into Switzerland. Definitely another highlight. As much as being in the alps feels remote where I was it felt very touristy and very catered and I guess the word is easy. It was a great intro but it left me wanting more. I long for the Pyrenees where I truly felt alone in a vast expansive area where I couldn't just drop down and find a big town. That being said if I wasn't in the most remote parts. All in all I really enjoyed myself. Lots of memories and lore.
