Fencing

I began fencing at age 7 with my school's club in South Africa, where I trained in foil and was often the youngest in my category. While I had early success, the competitive field was limited. After moving to Ireland, I transitioned to épée and started facing stronger competition. I won the Christmas Cup in 2022, and after a few more events, took a break from competing to focus on training. I returned briefly in early 2024 to compete at Duffies, but since then, I’ve stepped back from competition to prioritise my cycling and academic commitments.

Duffies

It was an absolute honour to compete in an International Mens Team Épée Memorial in honour of Prof. Paddy Duffy hosted in the Trinity Sports Centre in the heart of Dublin. We fenced teams from all over Western Europe from countries such as France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom and Ireland. I fought to the best of my ability and managed to walk away with two victories, many draws and comebacks. The team worked like a well oiled machine but we were just not good enough against the other fencers who were more experienced.
